Doctors: C-section carries more risks of complications

Nevertheless, every fourth woman in our country gives birth by section

Every fourth woman in our country gives birth by section. According to obstetricians and gynecologists, the trend is for all women to choose operative delivery, bTV reported.

Doctors are of the opinion that C-section carries more risks of complications than natural birth.

"Those who choose caesarean I think that take quite a risk. C-sections should not be performed at will, a only on medical indications. There are hundreds of operative risks and you don't know where the rabbit will jump out from," says Dr. Ivan Dikov, head department in the First General Hospital "Sveta Sofia".

Little Emily cried three days ago. She was born by section. Her mother, Kalina, chooses an operative delivery, because he is afraid of the pain in natural childbirth.

"Compared to normal birth and the myths we've heard about it from older women. At least the peace is different. If it was normal, I don't know how it would have ended. Whereas now I knew the beginning and the end", says Kalina Koleva.

Statistics show that about half of newborns in our country are born by cesarean section.

In other European countries, an information campaign is already underway to reduce the number of cesarean births. Germany, Austria and Scandinavia have the fewest operative births.
